Islamabad:May 05: The European Union ambassadors to Pakistan will visit universities across the country as part of the May 9 Europe Day celebrations. Under the event titled ‘EU ambassadors back to the universities’, the envoys from EU member states will inform university students and teachers about the Union, its bilateral relations with Pakistan as well as the country they are representing. They will also lecture at public and private universities in different cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and Charsadda. Among the likely destinations are Haripur, Rawalakot and Quetta. EU Ambassador to Pakistan Jean-Francois Cautain said Europe Day was an opportunity to take stock of the relationship between the EU and Pakistan. He said in many respects, the EU and Pakistan were bound together by a shared history and by common goals and shared values. “Many Pakistanis have found a home in Europe and are valued members of our societies,” he said. The EU ambassador said the Union was committed to the pursuit of democracy, economic development and peace. He said the event titled ‘EU ambassadors back to the universities’ would be an excellent opportunity to exchange views with Pakistani youths in the EU, Pakistan and global issues.The news.
