Promotion of knowledge govt’s top priority

Islamabad:Federal Minister for Science and Technology Mir Changez Khan Jamali said on Wednesday that promotion of higher scientific and technological learning and knowledge was one of the prime objectives of the present Pakistan Peoples Party-led government. He said this while visiting the principal, Islamabad Campus of Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT). Changez Jamali toured various departments and centres of CIIT in order to oversee the functioning and development of the institution. Later, Minister was briefed about the growth and various initiatives undertaken by the institution in the fields of advanced learning. He said, “We need to further upgrade the educational standards of our institutions. Pakistan has a great potential. Our country needs to excel in research and development.” The minister said that CIIT should develop its campuses in Balochistan and Sindh as well to which he was informed that efforts were already underway but the institution was facing hurdles in getting appropriate land in the said provinces. The minister said that all efforts would be made for acquiring the land in Quetta and Karachi so that students of both provinces could take advantage of modern scientific and technological education.The news
